The CWIC Scaffolding Academy, in collaboration with its industry partners, proudly offers the Scaffolding Apprenticeship Course—a comprehensive programme designed to develop the next generation of skilled scaffolders.

This course is ideal for individuals seeking to gain a nationally recognised academic qualification in scaffolding while building hands-on experience in real-world environments. Apprentices will benefit from expert instruction, practical training, and strong industry connections that support career progression in the construction sector.

Course Content

The course features hands-on practical training in key areas, including:

  • Interpreting technical information – understanding drawings, specifications, and site instructions
  • Resource estimation – accurately assessing the materials, tools, and time required for scaffolding tasks
  • Planning and preparation – organising work efficiently to meet project requirements
  • Constructing scaffolding structures – assembling and dismantling scaffolding systems in line with safety and industry standards

Qualifications you gain

Qualifications Included in the Programme:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Construction Operations (Scaffolding)
    A foundational qualification that covers core principles and practical skills essential for working safely and effectively in the scaffolding industry.
  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Accessing Operations and Rigging (Scaffolding)
    A competency-based qualification that demonstrates the learner’s ability to perform scaffolding tasks to industry standards in a real-world setting.
  • Level 1 Essential Skills Wales
    Focused on developing key skills in communication, application of number, and digital literacy to support workplace success.
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
    Provides learners with a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities in the workplace, including health and safety, contracts, and working conditions.
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
    Encourages the development of independent learning, problem-solving, teamwork, and reflective thinking—skills vital for career progression.

Academic

Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to enrol in this course. However, having GCSEs at grades A–C (or 9–4)* in English and Maths can be beneficial for your learning and progression.

To help us assess your suitability for the programme, you will be asked to:

  • Complete a skills assessment exercise, and possibly attend the college to carry out additional testing.
